For our final Creator Spotlight of the year, we are closing with someone who has shaped the Greencamp visual world from the inside. D4vid is our in–house graphics designer, and this month we are shining a light on the designers who give identity, voice and structure to creative movements like ours. Graphics designers are the quiet architects of culture, and it is important for us to spotlight them too.

Q: What’s your full name, and how old are you?
I’m D4vid Francis. A lot of people know me as Chidera. I am 24 years young.
Q: Where are you from, and what is that part of Nigeria like for you?
I’m from Imo State, the land of beautiful people. I didn’t grow up there, but I visited enough times to know my city well.
Q: What university did you attend, and what did you study?
The University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. I graduated from Accountancy but honestly, half of my real education came from late night YouTube, team projects and life lessons learned by force.
Q: How did graphic design first enter your world? Was it intentional or something you stumbled into?
All my life I have been a big fan of art. I used to draw on any white space I found. My dad wasn’t having that as a career path though. When I got into university, I made a friend who was already into design. I saw one of his designs and fell in love instantly. He gave me resources and I started practicing. Then Covid came and I had all the time in the world. I practiced every single night.
Q: Beyond design, what other creative skills do you have?
Poetry writing is a personal favourite. Photography and drawing too.
Q: How would you personally define design?
Design is storytelling dressed in paint and pixels. It is the art of making people feel something before they even know why. It is magic, except my wand is a mouse.
Q: What tools or software do you rely on the most?
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Figma for top level projects. Canva when I just want to feel something easy.
Q: What’s your goal in the creative scene, both now and long term?
Right now, I want to create work that makes people stop scrolling in amazement. Long term, I want to own a branding agency and spread the culture.
Q: Who are the designers, artists or movements that influence your work?
I pull from Afrofuturist visuals, minimalist movements and random Instagram creatives I discover at 2 am. I love work that feels alive, textured, vibrant and slightly rebellious.
Q: Describe your design aesthetic in three words.
Amazing, maximalist, functional.
Q: What’s your favourite part of the design process and what is the most challenging?
My favourite part is the designing phase. It is therapy for me. The most challenging part is when I am completely empty of ideas.
Q: In what ways has working with Greencamp influenced or sharpened your craft?
Greencamp pushed me into consistency. Deadlines, teamwork and real world feedback have strengthened my discipline. It is a great team with crazy vision. I did not expect anything less.
Q: What skill are you learning or hoping to master next?
Motion graphics. I want my designs to stop sitting still and start dancing. Also photography, so I can have deeper control of visual storytelling.
Q: What is a misconception about graphic design you wish people understood better?
That it is not just clicking things. Design takes thought, structure, psychology and hours of tiny pixel adjustments. The effort should be respected before any condescending feedback.
Q: If you weren’t a designer, what else would you be doing?
I would focus fully on my gadget business.

That is it for this edition and for the year. We are grateful for the consistency of this series and excited to bring more creatives to the spotlight next year. Thank you for reading and supporting.
